Belting and Vocal Health
Flo St. Jean
This two-part session will first offer an overview of what healthy belting is and what it is not. The session will also include discussion and demonstration to help teachers understand more about the appropriate use of the belt voice. The second part of the session will address topics related to care and use of the professional voice, as well as tips and techniques for maintaining vocal health for students and music educators alike.
Respect, Courage, and Global Understanding: Working with Cross-cultural Repertoire and Settings
Dr. Andre De Quadros
In this session, Dr. André de Quadros will discuss examples of diverse settings and repertoire. He will present approaches and a toolkit for working in a variety of settings with familiar and unfamiliar music from different global traditions. His work challenges artists and teachers to think differently about power, relationships, culture, the rights of the individual, and the role of choral music in mobilizing community and building empathic understandings.
Hope to see you there!
